Earlier today, French car manufacturer Ligier announced it will join the GT2 European Series championship with the all-new JS2 RS.
The car is inspired by the 1975 Le Mans runner-up with the same name, with similar visible similarities however this model is a lot more advanced then its 20th century counterpart with fetures including Bosch ABS and Traction control, Hydraulic power steering and BREMBO steel brakes whilst the engine is a 3.5L Ford Ecoboost V6 which depending on the Balence of performance delivers up to 650 BHP.
The brand also joined the brand-new for 2026 SRO GT Academy, which sees Silver-graded drivers eligible to win a fully funded drive in the 2027 GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup. Ligier is not the only manufacturer to do this; they join Ginetta, Maserati, and Mercedes-AMG.
SRO founder Stephan Ratel said, “It is always fantastic to welcome a new manufacturer to one of our series, especially an iconic brand with such a rich racing heritage as Ligier. Having already competed with us in FFSA TC France, it is very encouraging that they will now join the GT2 European Series powered by Pirelli, especially as part of the SRO GT Academy. This adds another option for teams and drivers wishing to be on the grid next year and compete for a significant opportunity in 2027.”
